As of 1 January 2010 the Faculty of Economics and Commerce became the Faculty of Business and Economics. The Melbourne Graduate School of Management will also change its name to become the Graduate School of Business and Economics.

Two rather different Faculty occasions marked the end of November. On the 19th the Dean, Professor Margaret Abernethy, hosted a business lunch at the classy Oyster Little Bourke restaurant to thank the many supporters of the Faculty for their involvement in 2009. A week later on the 26th, a somewhat more glamorous BCom graduation party was held at the Plaza Ballroom.

Earlier this month three groups of commerce students travelled overseas to complete the Global Business Practicum, an intensive subject offered by the Dept of Management and Marketing.
The groups that went to Singapore and Hong Kong were lucky enough to meet with small groups of alumni there and receive tips and advice first-hand! At the same time it gave the students the chance to share with alumni the innovative programs, such as this practicum, which the Faculty offers.
