With the second semester well underway the Faculty has been a hive of activity culminating in Open Day on 16th August, when we saw an estimated |
5000 prospective students from all across the country and beyond, enquiring about the various courses and programs offered by the Faculty.

On 16 July UMCAS held its annual Commerce Alumni Reunion Dinner at Ormond College. Around 190 alumni, staff and friends attended this year’s reunion held again in the magnificent Harry Potter-style Dining Hall, with the keynote speech delivered by alumnus Stephen Mayne.

| On 7 August, 104 bright BCom students attended the Future Leaders Forum, an exclusive undergraduate event. The forum, themed ‘Leadership in a turbulent world’ featured influential leaders such as Westpac CEO Gail Kelly (above right) and an interactive lunch session hosted by senior industry alumni, including KPMG Chairman Michael Andrews (above left). |

Alumnus Bill Lang, a BCom/LLB (Hons) graduate (1986) has released his first book, "Scores on |
| the Board™ – the 5-Part System for Building Skills, Teams and Businesses". The book is written as a life and business fable that focuses on individual and team performance improvement. |

Renata Rejas is a second year BCom student from Peru. She moved to Melbourne in 2008 and is |
set on making the most of her 'Melbourne Experience'. Renata is majoring in Finance and Marketing, and is President of the Latin American Student Association. |

| In partnership with National Australia Bank (NAB), the Department of Accounting and Business Information Systems has jointly developed a new leading edge postgraduate offering in business risk management which is being undertaken by Masters students at the University and staff from NAB. |
|

Two new courses, Master of Commerce (Management), and Master of Commerce (Marketing), provide business/commerce graduates with advanced level study in management or marketing on an internationally recognised pathway. |

| Four of our UMCAS committee members stepped down at the AGM in July. Huge thanks go to Chris Warrell (BCom 1953), Chris Leptos (BCom 1979; MBA 1990), Meta Santoso-Chien (BMus 2004; MAC Accounting 2006) and Tzer-Han Lim (BCom (Hons) 2001) for all the hard work that they put into strengthening alumni relations within in the Faculty. |
